Watermelon vines are derived from semi-desert regions of southern Africa. This plant is still sekerabat with pumpkin-labuan (Cucurbitaceae), melon (Cucumis melo) and cucumber (Cucumis sativus). Regular watermelon fruit is harvested to be eaten fresh or made juice. Watermelon seeds are dried and roasted also edible contents (cotyledon) as watermelon seeds.

Watermelon is andromonoecious monoclinic, which has two types of flowers on one plant: the male flowers, which has only stamens (stamens), and pansy flowers / hermaphrodite, which has stamens and pistils (pistillum). Pansy flower can be recognized from the ovaries (ovarian) at the base of the flower in the form of an oval-shaped enlargement. Watermelon has a tough skin, solid green or light green with dark green lines-lines. Depending on the type, juicy flesh that is red or yellow.
